Knowing how to navigate transitions is a skill.

And, it’s not a skill that many of us were taught.

As a child, you were probably explicitly or implicitly taught to suppress your difficult emotions and not make life hard for those around you.

Maybe when your first heartbreak happened your friends rolled their eyes at your drama and told you to “get over it”.

Maybe the transition to motherhood was so much harder than you ever expected, but you had no idea how to make sense of your experience or where to turn for support.

Now you’ve arrived in the “middle” of your life.

Maybe your life as you knew it is actually crumbling and you are in survival mode, not sure how you’ll come out the other side (divorce, loss, financial crisis).

Maybe it’s a more subtle, underlying sense of being stuck or lost… you know something deeper is going on but you don’t want to give it too much attention for fear you’ll invite a full on crisis and blow up your life.

Mellisa help me identify ways that I had intentionally disconnected from my body during a traumatic birth but that I had maintained that disconnection in my postpartum healing. She helped me reconnect with my body through a visualization and immediately afterwards I felt more connected and in my body and desiring to get back to yoga and movement and things I had been avoiding. Her intuitive way of guiding and asking questions was welcoming and inviting. She taught me how to recall energy I had given, kept giving, or was taken from me by all of the providers involved in my birth and the complications that followed. It was truly healing, and I’ve used that wisdom to pass forward in my own work as a healing professional.

You’re in a threshold moment. here’s how I can help.

I have been a Transitions Coach and Birthworker for over 7 years, incorporating somatic practice, meditation, music and psycho-spiritual tools to create a holistic approach to transformation.

I help my clients understand what the transition they are in wants from them… and how to re-imagine their cooperation.

Instead of getting stuck, you let yourself fully experience the separation, initiation and emergence that transition requires (as expressed by Joseph Campbell and others).

And damn, that emergence feels good.

Also, you don’t have to blow up your life to do it (this doesn’t mean nothing changes).

Change is what happens to us. Transition is how we navigate change.

“Mellisa created a space that felt so beautiful and safe. She held me (both physically and emotionally) in such a nurturing way that allowed me to dive deep into my subconscious and recognize where my troublesome beliefs and habits were formed. With her guidance and support I was able to release a lot of trauma that had been stored in my body since childhood, and I left feeling so much lighter and more free. ”
