your voice is an offering.
Music may be the most innate way to connect us with ourselves, each other and the sacred, universal wisdom that transcends all traditions.

Maybe you love to belt out a song in the shower or car but the minute you’re around anyone you feel small and self-conscious, believing everyone else is more qualified to use their voice to express themselves.
Maybe you’re a musician who is tired of the same old way of relating to your voice and creative expression.
Maybe you have experienced a faith transition and don’t know where music or spiritual practice fits anymore.
This is the most personal and vulnerable offering I’ve ever created.
For years, even after I was able to reconnect to music in my own personal spiritual practice, I still struggled to share it with others. There is something so intimate about sharing our voices with the world.
Somehow, I had internalized that my singing voice was part of me in a way that I didn’t want to expose to scrutiny, which was an issue I had never faced as an instrumentalist.
This intimate nature is part of what makes our voices such magic. Because yes, they are PART of us. They come from within us.
To reveal yourself in this way is indeed vulnerable. To do so is a great gift, to yourself and to the world.
It is what makes our voices such a healing offering.
My hope is to create a sanctuary—a transformative space where you can reveal and offer the raw power and healing of your own voice through devotional practice.

take a deeper look at our sessions
Over our few weeks together, we’ll marinate in the intersection of music and devotional practice. Through a blend of guided exercises designed to connect you to your voice, group discussions, and personal reflections, we’ll explore:
session 1: Reimagining Practice
What IS Devotion? What are we in devotion to? How do we reimagine spiritual practice through the dual lens of wisdom and your own journey? We’ll also begin weaving the tapestry of connection to each other that will carry us through the intensive with personal stories and intention setting.
session 2: Reclaiming your voice
This is the best part - discovering the relationship between music and spiritual/devotional practice and how to cultivate a meaningful relationship with voice and song in daily life. I’ll guide you in vocal and somatic techniques for connecting to your singing voice, developing confidence and intuition as well as improving skill with vocal range, pitch and resonance.
session 3: Remembering roots
Together, we’ll explore the transcendent qualities of music and how it helps us connect us to the sacred, as well as delve into different wisdom practices and offer a framework for connecting with your own ancestral lineage and traditions.
session 4: Rediscovering community
Discover the profound importance of voice and song in collaborative, communal settings. Together, we'll explore specific practices to integrate music and spirit within our shared experiences. We’ll also create an improvisation song together (yes, via Zoom!) that offers expression of our emergent shared experience.
“Singing with Mellisa is tremendously enjoyable. Her collaborative spirit is immediately disarming and her enthusiasm for musical creativity is so engaging. 10/10 - would recommend!”

Hi, I’m Mellisa Reeves.
I have been a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter for almost 30 years. I am also a doula of many realms… I see myself as someone called to help hold the spaces of transition (birth, death, faith, grief and more).
I grew up in the church…. I was playing piano and singing on the worship team by the time I was 14. I loved it and most of my creative, devotional energy was channeled through this outlet… until in my late 20’s after a massive faith transition, I was left completely without any musical inspiration or desire.
Since Jesus was no longer my boyfriend/muse, I had nothing.
It also didn’t take me long to start aching deeply for the deeply moving experience of expressing myself through music in that way… but I couldn’t let myself go there anymore.
Fast forward almost a decade and a few more significant life transitions; I began to finally find my way back to music, but more importantly, to a connection with the divine through music.
To devotion.
As my partner once put it, this was, and had always been, the “shape” of my devotion. Other practices, while helpful, didn’t transform me in the same way. Movement, meditation, breathwork… I didn’t have decades clocked in these practices.
Because ultimately, that’s what a practice is - something you do again and again and again and again (not something we’re very good at these days since we’re always on to the next best thing that might heal us forever).
Music was a well worn path for me. It was a way up the mountain.
Not everyone is like me, writing love songs to Jesus at 2am. But there’s enough evidence that singing, and practice, and coming together to practice, is transformative.
For years I have envisioned a place where music lovers, faith-transitioners, dogma-challengers and hopeful seekers could gather, connect with their voice, and re-embrace music as a devotional practice - a way of being together, in awe of and in service to something bigger than ourselves.
here’s what you’ll experience:
Gain valuable skills in vocal technique, intuitive singing and responding to others in a shared space
Become attuned to the gift of your own voice and it’s healing potential
Cultivate a unique devotional practice with support for integration into daily life
Deepen presence in your relationships, creativity & spiritual practice
Become more confident in expressing yourself
Reclaim your own spiritual, ancestral or cultural practices and traditions
Experience the joy of a supportive and like-minded community
Do you long for the powerful, soulful expression of yourself through voice and song that carries you to another place, drowns out the noise and distraction of life, connects you deeply to those sharing your experience, and feels like deep, deep love that holds you?
Do you also long for a way to express that same love?
